Wanting More Freedom

The man who shot President Reagan wants more freedom.

John Hinckley's lawyers are asking he be granted longer unsupervised visits at his parent's home. Government attorneys are opposing the request.

Hinckley has been in the psychiatric hospital since1982. Since late last year, Hinckley has been allowed short visits with his parents, and now his lawyers say he's ready for longer trips.

Government attorneys say Hinckley has been deceptive about his relationship with a former girlfriend and is not ready for any unstructured trips.
