TJC holds spring football game

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - All eyes were on quarterback Matt Davis and the Tyler Junior College football team on Friday night as the Apaches held their spring game.

This wasn't your ordinary offense versus defense. Rather a draft in the middle of the week determined the rosters. There we plenty of highlights in the game.

Quarterback Matt Davis, a transfer from Texas A&M put on a show. On several occasions he extended the play with his feet before finding open receivers in the end zone.

The Gold team which was quarterbacked by Davis won the game 61 to 38.

In reality though with the draft, the entire football team benefited from some intense competition.

"The big thing about the draft was it wasn't just offense versus defense, it was team versus team and I think it was a great experience for us," Davis said. "Not being able to play until August 30th, we needed to being able to get this competition, it really helped."

Davis went onto say,"I think we can be a lot better even though we did great today. We have very explosive players and good playmakers. I think coming into the season we should be really good. "
