Freedom Fighters: Archie Thomas

On April 8, 1944, Archie Thomas's bomber was shot down over Germany.

Although badly burned, Thomas was the only member of the ten-man crew to survive.  He was to spend the next thirteen months in the infamous Stalag 7-B, as a prisoner of the Third Reich.

Thomas was freed May 5, 1945, and only recently was presented with his service medals, including the Purple Heart, in a special ceremony.
