Pit bull portraits support controversial breed

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Pit bulls have been called dangerous and aggressive, but a new push is helping overhaul their reputation.

Notabully.org showcases a portrait series by photographer Douglas Sonders to help dogs like pit bulls, French Bulldogs and Boston Terriers.

Sonders, who owns a pit bull, started the campaign two years ago because he felt the breed was often not given a chance. Many pit bulls have trouble getting adopted because of the stigma against the breed.

Sonders began taking portraits of pit bulls, including the dog belonging to canine expert, Cesar Milan.
