ESPN reports SFA's Underwood turns down Marshall offer

Posted: Updated:
NACOGDOCHES, TX (KLTV) - According to ESPN reporter Andy Katz, Marshall University offered its head coaching job to Stephen F. Austin head coach Brad Underwood on Wednesday.

Shortly after, Katz reported that Underwood withdrew his name from consideration after ongoing discussions between Marshall and Underwood's representation.

Despite turning down the Marshall job offer, the Southland Conference coach of the year is also reportedly in contention for the Southern Mississippi head coaching vacancy.

In his only year with the Lumberjacks, Underwood coached SFA to a 32 and 3 record, and led the program to its first ever NCAA tournament victory.

Underwood was a former assistant under Frank Martin at both Kansas State and South Carolina.
