Educating people about diabetes was the focus in Longview today. Good shepherd hospital was helping patients learn how to live with the disease. Over a hundred people turned out for the educational seminar on diabetes at the hospitals medical plaza. Experts on the disease held classes on how weight, diet and even family history can play a role in having and controlling the disease. For many who have diabetes, information is their defense.
"I feel like the more information you have the better you can take care of yourself, our biggest problem is lack of knowledge the more knowledge you have about diabetes the more you're going to be able to overcome," says diabetes sufferer Judy Johns.
Good Shepherd Medical Center will also offer free screenings for diabetes each Thursday in November. No appointment is necessary. You can call the hospital for more information.
