Traffic temporarily diverted after Gladewater accident

Posted: Updated:
GLADEWATER, TX (KLTV) - A couple of East Texans told KLTV 7 that they thought they were going to drive off of a bridge after an accident Monday night.

Monday evening, a truck was traveling across the Sabine Bridge on Highway 271 in Gladewater, when one of the tires on the trailer it was hauling blew out.

The truck ended up right next to the bridge railing, and one of the passengers told KLTV 7 that he was sure they were going to go over the edge.

The debris from the trailer, including a large number of metal pipes, ended up on the road, and the bridge was shut down to one lane while the accident scene was being cleared.

There were three people in the truck, but none of them were hurt. The scene was cleared not long after the wreck happened.
