Dirk and Mavs try to reverse fortune against San Antonio

DALLAS, TX (KLTV) - Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki is set to play his sixth postseason series against Interstate 35 rival San Antonio.

There of course have been ups and downs against the Spurs, and the big question entering this series is do the Mavs stand a chance against the number one seed?

It will no doubt take a stellar effort from Nowitzki if the Mavericks are going hang around. In the previous five playoff match-ups, Dirk has won two series against the Spurs and lost three.

The Mavericks did lose all four games against San Antonio this season and have lost the last nine meetings overall. Yes, Dallas is aware its struggled lately with their bitter rival.

"They have had a big edge on us the last couple of years and we have to work to change that," Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said. "There are a lot of areas that we can improve and its our job to do that."

Nowitzki added, "We know we haven't played well against them the last couple of outings, especially this year..we haven't played well in their building so we are preparing."
