LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Congressman Louie Gohmert is back in East Texas, taking some time off from Capitol Hill. But he still made the time to visit with some East Texas veterans.

Gohmert held an impromptu meeting with the veterans at his Longview office where they talked about Veterans Administration health care and veterans honor ceremonies.

The congressman assured his guests that everything should be done to take care of all veterans.

"We should honor all of our veterans from all generations. They are people who are out there and their lives on the line for us and our freedom, we need to make sure they don't have worries back home that we can take care of," Gohmert said.

The congressman also talked to the veterans about a special event this weekend.

A Missing Man honors ceremony will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery on Harrison Rd in Longview. The public is invited.
