Love triangle ignites after ex-boyfriend allegedly throws Molotov cocktail into bedroom

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
A Kaufman County man is behind bars on Wednesday after catching his ex-girlfriend's bedroom on fire, leaving her new boyfriend with second degree burns.
The Van Zandt County Fire Marshal's Office said shortly after midnight, Randall Pickens of Elmo threw a Molotov cocktail into the bedroom of a home on County Road 3440 near Myrtle Springs in Van Zandt County. Picken's ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend were asleep in the bedroom when the explosive was thrown into a bedroom window.
Pickens was taken into custody at a residence near Elmo in Kaufman County. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of arson. His ex-girlfriend was not injured, but her boyfriend suffered second degree burns. The residence suffered minor damage.
Fire Marshal Charles Allen said the home was bombed by Pickens as the result of a lovers' triangle. He had previously made threats against his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.
Pickens has previously been charged with escaping while confined and burglary of a motor vehicle.
