COLLEGE STATION, TX (KLTV) - Three members of the Texas A&M football team have been arrested by College Station police in the last six days. Since the beginning of the year, seven members of the Aggie football team have been arrested.

Edward Pope, a sophomore wide receiver from Carthage, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear April 10. Pope graduated from Carthage High School in 2012.

Howard Matthews, a senior defensive back from League City, was arrested on April 11 for speeding, failing to show a driver's license and failing to appear.

On April 11, police also arrested Gavin Stansbury, a senior defensive lineman from Franklin, LA, for assault.

The arrests come less than a week after freshman wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones was arrested on April 6 for disorderly conduct in a bar in College Station.

Quarterback Kenny Hill, a sophomore, was arrested for public intoxication in March and subsequently indefinitely suspended from the team. Hill was competing for the starting quarterback job left vacant after Johnny Manziel declared for the NFL Draft.

On February 23, sophomore defensive tackle Isaiah Golden and sophomore linebacker Darian Claiborne were arrested at an area apartment complex. Golden was arrested for possession of marijuana and Claiborne for a noise violation. Golden has since withdrawn from school, although he is expected to rejoin the team this summer.

Texas A&M athletic department policy calls for an indefinite suspension from all athletics activities following an arrest.

Previous to 2017, the Red Raiders hadn't experienced a perfect start in 14 years.  "We're definitely not finished, but it was relieving just to get through the preseason. It's obviously a big deal, but it's not district. We still have work to accomplish," said Chance Amie, Tyler Lee quarterback. The Red Raiders will open up district play this Friday again...More >>
