Suspects found in Alto B&B store ceiling after attempting to steal prescription pills
ALTO, TX (KLTV) -
Alto Police Officers were able apprehend two male suspects after an attempted burglary of Brookshire Brothers' B&B store in Alto on highway 69. Alto Chief of Police Jeremy Jackson says two black males, ages 26 and 28, gained entry into the back of the store by making a hole. He says they gained entry into the pharmacy and took several prescription pills.
Jackson says the suspects, Lajarrius Jackson and Keithon Jackson, then tried to leave the store through the hole they made but they were met by officer Rory Velasquez. Velasquez says the suspects ran back into the store. Alto officers met Velasquez at the scene and set up a perimeter around the store.
Jackson says the Brookshire Brothers corporate office in Lufkin were watching the suspects inside the store on real time surveillance video. The cameras set up at the corporate office were able to tell officers where the suspects were hiding inside of the B&B store. A DPS search and rescue team was sent out to assist the Alto Police Department.
Jackson says one of the suspects made a phone call to his girlfriend who is believed to have been in Dallas. Jackson says the girlfriend then called the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office stating the suspects wanted to surrender. Jackson says DPS was able to get the phone number of one of the suspects. A call was made to the suspects, who were hiding in the ceiling. The suspects agreed to surrender. They were taken into custody and unharmed.
