Slight risk for severe weather remains until Tuesday morning

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Scattered thunderstorms began popping up across East Texas this morning, leaving quarter to dime size hail, along with gusty wind, heavy rain, and plenty of lightning.

Most of these storms have moved to our east, but portions of East Texas will remain under Severe Thunderstorm Watches until 5:00 p.m.. We will continue to see a chance for scattered storms throughout the day, some could even be severe. The major threat with these storms will be large hail, around quarter size, and heavy rain.

East Texas will remain under a "Slight Risk" for severe weather by the Storm Prediction Center until 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

Showers and storms today are due to a weak disturbance over North Texas and a cold front that pushed through early this morning. We're pretty chilly behind this front, with highs expected to only reach the mid 40s to low 50s this afternoon.

These storms will continue to move to the east, clearing East Texas this evening. Skies will become partly cloudy overnight. Lows will fall into the low to mid 30s by the early morning hours tomorrow. Some areas could experience frost, and even a freeze, with these unseasonably cool lows.

Sunny skies will take over tomorrow as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. Highs will start to get a little warmer, reaching the low 60s.

We'll continue to see plenty of sunshine through mid-week, but another round of showers and storms will be possible by Thursday, as another cold front moves into the area. This cold front won't be quite as strong as the one we are experiencing today, so highs will stay fairly seasonable, reaching the 70s.

The chance for showers and storms will continue through the weekend.

Ghost stories and haunted houses have long been a popular past time, but just how much truth is there to the legends? "As Shakespeare said there are more things in heaven and earth then are in your books,” says Big Foot Expert Jeff Hurley. “There are things we don't understand." At the April 21, Paranormal Conference, experts in the subject came together to further explore their theories.
