Proud of East Texas: Harold Wilson

Posted: Updated:
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Harold Wilson, who didn't start running until he was 54, is running 40 to 50 miles a week in preparation for the Boston Marathon.

He's won the Marathon twice in his category and placed second once.

In 2013, Wilson was the only 80 year old to finish the race before two terrorist bombs exploded near the finish line.

The award ceremony was cancelled, and Wilson received his trophy in the mail.

This year at the age of 81, Harold Wilson will once again run in the Marathon, determined not to let terrorism again rob him of his place on the podium.

The Boston Marathon is Monday, April 21st.
