LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

The only person arrested so far in connection with an East Texas shootout is out of jail on bond.

22-year old Jacorey Williams of Carthage is charged with evidence tampering in connection to Sunday's shootout on Beaumont Street in Longview.

Three people died from that shooting.

Police were called to the scene at Beaumont Street, then 30 minutes later, they were led to Denny's parking lot where a third man was found dead inside a car.

"The investigation is ongoing, and we're still trying to determine exactly what happened at the scene," says Longview police officer Kristie Brian.

What police have is things that don't fit. Two men involved were from Panola county.

"Why these guys were here in Longview, and how they ended up at the restaurant, how they picked that out," Brian says.

A gun was recovered by investigators, and physical evidence will tell them who fired shots.

"Ballistics is going to play a huge part in that once the gun is processed," says Brian.

Investigators say they're trying to filter through some conflicting information regarding exactly what sparked the shooting.

"There's a lot of speculation about really what happened in this case," Brian says.

The focus is on Jacorey Williams, who police say admitted to throwing a gun out of the car, and driving to the Denny's parking lot.

He remains a man that police believe can clear up details on the shooting.

"Mr. Williams obviously was a suspect; we don't know exactly what part he played," says Brian.

We spoke with Williams by phone. He declined an interview and gave no comment.

Police say Jacorey Williams was the man who made the 9-1-1 call from the Denny's parking lot.
