Good afternoon!

Here are some stories for you to peruse today; make sure to join us on-air at 4, 5 and 6 for much more, as well!

1. A 16-year-old with two knives went on a stabbing and slashing spree near Pittsburgh this morning, leaving as many as 20 injured.A surgeon overseeing victims of the mass stabbing at a high school said he was "very hopeful" the most critical of his patients would survive.

2. The Longview chapter of Habitat for Humanity has announced its 2014 volunteer of the year. Congratulations to Elizabeth Smith with Central Title for the recognition. That kind of service to the community is one reason we continue to be proud of East Texas.



3. Volkswagen is telling U.S. dealers to stop selling its most popular cars until transmission fluid leaks can be fixed. Spokesman Scott Vazin says the order covers about 25,000 Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle convertible model. Only certain engine types are affected.
Also, Toyota is recalling 1.8 million vehicles. See that info here.

4. Medicare paid a tiny group of doctors $3 million or more apiece in 2012. One got nearly $21 million ... an ophthalmologist in Florida with ties to a Democratic senator in New Jersey. Reports say the lawmaker used the doctor's jet for trips to the Dominican Republic. More details here.

5. Kelly Gage, 51, of Gun Barrel City has been indicted for assault family violence. Gage was arrested in 2011 for allegedly assaulting his wife, Patti McHugh Gage, on Thanksgiving, causing severe head trauma. His wife later died at a Tyler hospital.

7. Two suspects have been arrested for their involvement in the death of an Upshur County teenager, Jacob Michael Johnson. The two who were taken into custody are both 14-year-old males.
