KILGORE, TX (KLTV) - Two East Texas men are now charged with theft after police allegedly caught them in the act.

According to Kilgore Police Department, 45-year-old John Phillip Elder and 44-year-old Jason Dean Henson, both of Kilgore, were arrested Sunday. Officer Josh Sims located the two men on an oil lease road off of Fritz Swanson Road.

Police say the two men were cutting up numerous oil field pipes in a wooded area at the end of the lease road. An initial investigation revealed the pipe was stolen from a local business.

Henson was also found in possession of a pistol. Both men are charged with theft and Henson received an additional charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Both men were released Monday on bond.
