Police seek suspect in murder of clerk at Maple Heights gas station

MAPLE HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

Maple Heights Police are looking for suspects after a gas station clerk was murdered late Monday night.

It happened just before 11 p.m. at the Prime Station on Granger Road.

A customer saw the injured clerk lying on the ground behind the security glass at the counter and immediately called police.

Officers entered the area and discovered the clerk had been shot one time at close range.

The 41-year-old Parma man was rushed to Metro, where he was pronounced dead. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Kumer Saha.

After reviewing surveillance video, police say the suspect is a slim, black man wearing a gray hoodie with white tie strings cinched up tight around his face. He also had on blue jeans, tan boots and black gloves.

The suspect shot the victim with a small black handgun at close range. After the shooting, the suspect jumped the counter and emptied the register before fleeing the area.

A witnesses who was at the gas station at the time of the deadly shooting has come forward and is speaking with police.

    The Longview Fire Department responded to a residential fire on the corner of Alpine Road and Bolivar Street in Longview. Five fire engines responded. Witnesses stated that flames were appearing out of the house. The fire is under control but is not completely out yet.
