(KLTV) - East Texas music was honored again Sunday night in Las Vegas at the 49th annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Lindale's Miranda Lambert had a record-breaking night, winning the title of Female Vocalist of the Year for the fifth consecutive year. This win broke a record previously set by Reba McEntire, who won the award each year from 1984 through 1987.

Lambert won with Keith Urban for Vocal Event of the Year for their song "We Were Us." In addition to that, the East Texan won the prize for Single Record of the Year for "Mama's Broken Heart," a song written by Kacey Musgraves, Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally.

Mineola's Kacey Musgraves had a big night herself at the ACM awards. Not only did her song win for Miranda Lambert, but her own album, Same Trailer, Different Park won the prestigious honor of Album of the Year. Musgraves won not only as artist, but as producer for the album. This award was her first-ever ACM award win.

Musgraves said in her acceptance speech that she didn't expect to win; perhaps this was because she was the lone female in a field of popular male contenders for album of the year, which included Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw and Florida Georgia Line.

"I'm proud to be a woman representing country music," she said as she accepted the award, and was cheered by the audience in attendance.

Lambert said she was surprised at her own win for Female Vocalist of the Year, saying "I cannot believe this; I really did not expect this!" Her many fans certainly were not surprised at all.

The ACM award winners are determined by voting among members of the Academy of Country Music in Los Angeles, except the awards for entertainer of the year and new artist categories, which also include fan voting.

During the ceremony, it was announced that Dallas will host next year's ACM awards, which will be held in April at ATT Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
