Earl Campbell signs autographs; talks Johnny Manziel

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - It was a special day for those who showed up at Super Foods 1 this morning here in Tyler off of Troup highway.

The Tyler Rose, Hall of Famer, Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell was there to sign autographs and promote his meat products. Campbell was also generous enough to talk about the hot topics surrounding everything from the Longhorns, Texans, and of course Johnny Manziel.

Now the Texans and 'Johnny Football' could go hand in hand if Houston drafts Manziel at number one overall. Whether that happens or not, Campbell feels Johnny has matured over the past year and is ready for the NFL.

But he hopes Manziel isn't under center right away. "I do believe Manziel is doing the right things, he is a great athlete, there is no doubt about that," Campbell said.

He added, "But on this next level he is looking forward to being on everyone else is a great athlete and is exceptional. I just hope that whoever plans on drafting him they dont just stick him in there right away."

Campbell went on to say, "There are few people and I was one of them and was very thankful that I had a chance to just go right in and play, but I was a running back and he's a quarterback."
