Texas College holds pro day

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - For a majority of college football players, the road comes to an end after their senior season and the pads are put up forever.

For some though, the dream of playing in the National Football League comes true. Three Texas College players tried to help their NFL cause this morning by catching the eye of a St. Louis scout.

This marked the first time since 2006 Texas College held a pro day.

Jamaal Johnson, Charles Jones, and Joseph Cook all went through normal pro day drills and are trying to prove even an athlete from a small university can make it big.

"Just because you are from a small school doesn't mean you cant play ball,"Cook said. "I was also fortunate to be able to play in two all star games. I started in one and then the other I went down there with Coach Cumby so I know what its like to play against some of the best in the nation."

Johnson added,"Its just a blessing really. I never thought I would be here to play and have my own pro day. Its just a blessing to be at a small school and be able to do this. "

The American Southwest Conference just released preseason poll for the upcoming season and East Texas Baptist University is predicted to finish in third place.
