LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Civil War history and a reenactment of a famous Old West robbery make for a very busy time for one East Texas museum.
For the next two weeks, the Gregg County Historical Museum will display Civil War artifacts for Texas units that served during the conflict.
Rare firearms and uniforms will be on display along with soldiers' stories.
The museum is also hosting the reenactment of the 1894 Longview bank robbery by the infamous 'Dalton gang' at the Longview rodeo grounds on Saturday in the annual 'Dalton days' celebration.
"There will be trick shooting; we have a mounted shooting competition, we have pony rides for the kids, face painting, there's going to be a petting zoo, all kinds of family friendly activities," says museum executive director Raina Howerton.
Performances of the Dalton gang robbery will be held at 10 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. at the rodeo grounds which is next to the Maude CobbActivityy Center.
The Civil War display with be at the Gregg County Historical Museum until April 13.
