The Gregg county election's office says voter turn out there is large, but early voting is what put the numbers over the top. More than 27,000 Gregg county voters cast their ballots early. That's almost 10,000 more than normal.
Lines were long for most of the morning, but slowed down as the afternoon wore on. Still election officials say they brought in extra volunteers to help with the expected crowds.
"We've had to get interpreters this time, for the first time ever, in some of our precincts. We've had to ask for a lot of help from a lot of people," says elections administrator Hattie Owens.
Gregg county election officials say their office has stayed very busy with people trying to find their voting location. They were happy to report no significant problems.
