Tyler Lee soccer working overtime

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Several East Texas soccer teams still have a shot at state. Tyler lee is still alive, but it has not been easy. The Red Raiders have been working overtime.

Its pretty fitting Tyler Lee won its first round playoff game in penalty kicks. The Red Raiders have now four games in a row, three of which were in overtime.

"I think we had three or four penalty kicks during district so with that experience we just took it into the playoffs," Case Carnes said. "We used that experience to get the win." Golie Daniel Arbarca added," I just feel like its normal for me now because penalty kicks are easy to me."

Arbarca is a man amongst boys when it comes to pk's. He's undefeated in shootouts on the year and that gives his team reassurance.

"We have been so confident in the back and its brought a whole new confidence to the field having him out there," Brett Howlett said. Carlos Zavala added, "It calms us down a lot, but it also excites us at the same time you know."

In a sport where using your hands is illegal, its pretty ironic that Daniel's hands is what comes up clutch when it matters most.

"I just confuse the player and look in his eyes," Arbarca said. Zavala added,"He is just amazing. He just always comes through in the clutch. I don't know just whenever we need him, he is always there."

And when Arbarca takes the pressure off, it helps his shooters fire their penalty kicks with confidence."Say they are shooting first and he blocks it, It gives us confidence," Howlett said. We know if we make this shot then we can go up one so it gives a whole new confidence level."

Well see if that spills over the Red Raiders next match against McKinney Boyd.

I think its safe to say Jameis Winston likes to hang out with East Texas talent. The Tampa Bay quarterback was in Lufkin Wednesday night with former teammate Jorvorskie Lane to help the former Lufkin star talk with kids and support his "Lane of Hope" foundation. But, earlier Wednesday, a picture surfaced on social media of Winston working out with Adrian Peterson in Houston at a training facility.
