The man accused of killing famed American sniper and Navy Seal Chris Kyle will appear in a North Texas courtroom Tuesday morning.
26-year-old Eddie Ray Routh is accused of killing Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield at a shooting range in Glen Rose, which is southwest of Fort Worth.
Tuesday’s hearing will focus on which objects both prosecutors and Routh’s defense team agree to having submitted for DNA testing.
Kyle was a former Navy Seal and sniper who had been deployed into combat four times. His service earned him seven medals of bravery, and he reportedly killed more Iraqi hostiles than any other member of the military.
Back at home, Kyle worked closely with veterans returning from war and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
But in February 2013, Kyle was shot dead at the Glen Rose gun range, by another military member believed to be suffering from PTSD.
The suspect, Routh, was a Marine and Iraqi war veteran.
Routh’s attorney has indicated the former Marine will enter a plea of innocence by reason of insanity.
Tuesday’s DNA hearing will take place at 10 A.M. in Stephenville; however, Routh’s capital murder trial is currently scheduled to begin in May.
