LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Officials say the man who put on a wig and pretended to be a woman during a local bank robbery is still on the loose.

The robbery happened Wednesday morning at the Capitol One bank on Loop 281 in Longview. The man captured on security video robbed the bank in broad daylight and was able to disappear before officials could find him.

"Walked out, walked west, and just kind of vanished into thin air at this point. We never found anything, never had anyone call to say they found anything suspicious. He may have had a car parked somewhere, we just don't know," says Longview police officer Kristie Brian.

Police were on scene minutes after the robbery, but in the space of three city blocks, the suspect was gone. Investigators believe the man may have intended to walk in plain sight, and intended to be noticed.

"The long hair, the curly hair, the purse, he wanted to portray himself as a female, which may have made the getaway easier," Brian says.

"I tell you its stranger and stranger. The guy walks by and wants you to see him, wants you to see him as a girl. What was he up to," says Mike Stacy of Big 5 Tire.

He also could have dumped his clothes or disappeared into a wooded area behind the center.

"It's a commercial parking lot with businesses. He could have just tried to just blend in with the public and walk away," says Brian.

Police have searched every dumpster and trash bin in the area but have found nothing.

"Not really anything that we can go on," Brian says.

But somewhere, somebody knows who this is.

"If a family member comes up with a suspicious large amount of money all of the sudden those are things we would want to look in to," Brian added.

They are also looking for any clothes he might have left behind during his escape.
