TYLER, TX (KLTV)
Happy Thursday, East Texas. Scattered showers and storms have been making their way through East Texas this afternoon. These storms, moving to the northeast between 35-40 mph, have been reported with lightning. A few isolated storms could be strong to severe, with the Storm Prediction Center placing portions of East Texas in the risk for severe weather both today and again on Friday. The main threat with these storms will be large hail and damaging winds.
Lake Wind Advisories will remain in effect through 7 PM, with southerly winds from 15-20 mph, gusting up to 30. These high winds will create rough chop on open waters. With strong winds and thunderstorms in the area, please stay indoors this afternoon.
The 70s will stick around as we move into the weekend with sunshine returning to the region. Another chance for storms arrive by Wednesday of next week.
