Witnesses surprised to discover Longview bank robber was a man

The robbery happened just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Capital One Bank in the 1700 block of West Loop 281 in Longview. The robbery happened just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Capital One Bank in the 1700 block of West Loop 281 in Longview.
LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Police continue to search for a man they say robbed a Longview bank on Wednesday morning.

The robbery happened just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Capital One Bank in the 1700 block of West Loop 281 in Longview. Police say the suspect, a male, was dressed as a female wearing a long, black curly wig and a dark jacket or sweater, dark shirt and sunglasses. The suspect is also believed to be carrying a black bag.

"We thought it was a woman. We saw this guy...at that time we didn't know if it was a guy of a girl...and we said 'oh, its a guy? That's weird,'" says witness Fermin Pecina.

No weapon was displayed during the robbery and no one was injured during the robbery.

"We believe he walked away west, that's what a witness told us. That's all we know at this point," Longview police officer Kristie Brian said.

Brian said officers searched  an area around Gilmer Road behind Ross and McDonald's.

The FBI is assisting Longview police in the investigation.

"Showed me the pictures, and it was the same guy. In the picture he was wearing dark glasses and when we saw him he wasn't. Some kind of disguise or something like that," Pecina said.
