SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Smith County authorities have now released the identity of the man suspected of shooting three at a subdivision Monday night.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office said officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 23000 block of Dogwood Trail in the Enchanted Lakes subdivision around 9:50 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that 56-year-old Jerry Gene Allen had fired a shotgun, injuring three individuals.

Reports indicate that Allen and others had been drinking at a bonfire gathering in the subdivision when he got into an altercation with several individuals. Allen left the gathering and went to his home to retrieve a shotgun. He then fired the shotgun, hitting a man and two women. All three received non-life threatening injuries and two were transported to a Tyler hospital.

Allen has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault causing bodily injury.
