DPS offering $5,000 reward for E. Texas sex offender

The Texas Department of Public Safety has added Eric Lapaul Mosby, 39, to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is now being offered for information leading to his arrest.  All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.

Mosby has ties to several East Texas cities, including San Augustine, Nacogdoches, and Tenaha, and has previously worked in the poultry industry. The 6'1" man, weighing around 250 pounds, may be using the alias “Hambone.” He has multiple tattoos, including a bone on his neck; a tiger on his right shoulder; and a woman on his left shoulder. Mosby also has a noticeable scar near his left eye.

His criminal history includes sexual assault of a child, failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, and aggravated assault. Mosby was convicted in 1997 for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. Since 2007, he has been arrested multiple times for failure to register as a sex offender. This violent criminal past has led him to being wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration, tampering with a governmental record, and probation violation.

There are four different ways to provide anonymous tips:
  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477)
  • Text the letters DPS, followed by your tip, to 274637 (CRIMES)
  • Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
  • Submit a Facebook tip by clicking the "SUBMIT A TIP" link
DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Sex Offender lists. You can find the current lists – with photos on the DPS website.

Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
