TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The results are in, and the three female lion cubs at the Caldwell Zoo now have names.

The Caldwell Zoo celebrated the birth of four healthy lion cubs on January 22, to Njeri, an African lion. The male cub, Doc, was named after the zoo’s staff veterinarian who recently passed away, but the zoo reached out to the public for help with the remaining names.

Out of eleven unique options, the winners were selected by the community through emails, Facebook, and even in person at the zoo’s entrance.

The female cubs names are Zuri, which means beautiful, Amira, which means princess, and Malika, which means angel.

These cubs will join their brother in the lion exhibit daily- you might even be able to see them outside playing from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Caldwell Zoo is located in north Tyler at 2203 Martin Luther King Blvd.
