Lufkin man arrested after 30 minute standoff-hostage situation with SWAT

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

According to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office around 2:30 PM Sunday, dispatch received a 911 call reporting a female was possibly assaulted and being held hostage at a residence in the Cedar Grove area of Angelina County off FM 2251.

Captain Alton Lenderman said when deputies and SWAT arrived on scene they tried to make contact for 30 minutes and after no movement or response, the team made entry and rescued the female victim.

Adolfo "Tito" Garcia of Lufkin was arrested for aggravated kidnapping.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries which were not described by authorities.

No law enforcement were injured during the standoff.

Lufkin Police and Hudson Police provided assistance.

Tito has an extensive arrest record in Angelina County. Garcia was arrested less than a week ago (3/14/14) for assault causing bodily injury/family violence, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful restraint. He was also booked in for outstanding warrants for offenses committed on 02/16/14) for interfering with an emergency call and assault causing bodily injury/family violence.
