Police: Gregg Co. business owner arrested after repeatedly buying stolen scrap metal

Kilgore, TX – Over the last several months Kilgore Police Department Investigators received information Cisneros Scrap, 820 SH 135 North, Kilgore, Texas had been knowingly purchasing stolen scrap metal. This information was developed through interviews with person(s) who had committed scrap metal theft and other investigative techniques. Scrap metal theft continues to be significant problem not only in the Kilgore area but nationwide.
On Thursday, 03-20-2014, at about 10:30 a.m. members of the Kilgore Police Department conducted an operation to determine if this information was true. The operation revealed the owner of the business, identified as Jose Cisneros-Tamayo, 60 years of age, of Kilgore, Texas, willingly purchased metal known to him as being stolen property. Based on the evidence uncovered during the operation Mr. Cisneros-Tamayo was arrested.
Jose Cisneros-Tamayo was charged with Felony Theft and Metal Recyclers Fail to Furnish Report to DPS a class A misdemeanor. Mr. Cisneros-Tamayo was booked into the Gregg County Jail.
