LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A man who was hit by a car in Longview Thursday night has died.
The accident occurred at 7:46 p.m. Thursday. Officer Kristie Brian said that Antonio Segura, Sr., was walking southbound in the roadway in the 1700 block of East Marshall Avenue when he was hit by an oncoming car. Police say Segura stepped out onto the street at the intersection of Shelton Street and East Marshall Avenue. Brian said the man had a beer in his hand when he was hit.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Wendell Deakins, struck Segura in the inside eastbound lane.
The car could not avoid hitting the man, Brian told us. He was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, and it is now confirmed that he has died from his injuries.

The driver of the car was not ticketed in the incident. Police do believe alcohol may have been a factor in this traffic fatality.
