From the Gregg County Sheriff's Office:

At about 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning, Gregg County Deputies observed a black Ford truck traveling on Tryon Road with expired registration. Upon making a stop on the vehicle, the driver, forty-four year old Larry Shane Sillick of Tyler, was found to have an outstanding federal warrant for violation of probation. Upon Sillick exiting the truck, he dropped a purple colored bag and stepped on it in an attempt to conceal it from Deputies. Deputies found that the bag contained four baggies of suspected crystalline methamphetamine, later found to have a total weight of 7.8 grams. A search of the truck revealed a Ruger 9mm handgun in the console.

Sillick was transported to the Gregg County Jail for the outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than or equal to 4 grams but less than 200 grams. Because of a previous felony conviction, Sillick was also charged with felon in possession of a firearm. Sillick is being held without bond.
