TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
One of the East Texas men charged with the murder of a Tyler woman at a public park appeared in court Monday morning.
Rakheem Goldstein is accused of killing 20-year-old Briana Young at Tyler’s P.T. Cole park in July 2013.
Elisha Williams and Dennis Bendy are also charged with murder in connection to the crime.
All three men appeared in court last week, where Williams was granted a continuance until August.
Goldstein's defense asked the court for a continuance which has been set for Monday, May 12 at 10 a.m. The state is waiting for DNA evidence to be processed in order to move forward with the case. The results of those tests should be returned around May. Goldstein's pretrial is expected to begin before May 12.
A hearing for Dennis Bendy was scheduled for Monday morning but has been moved to 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Following the investigation, police determined Young was at the park with her 3-year-old son when she was caught in gang-related crossfire. Investigators said Young was shot in the chest while attempting to shield her son from the gunfire. The toddler was not injured in the shooting.
