They used to be called flea marketsor thrift sales, but these days trade fairs have become a venue withspecialized vendors and targeted merchandize.
The days of buying items emptied outsomeone's garage are gone, as events like Longview's trade days have becomemuch more than garage sales.
"I find some unusual things I'm kind ofa collector I walk through and find something I haven't seen before. Got a newhandle for my pitchfork. Find some good bargains," says Stanley and CherylFranklin of Tyler.
Billy Clay has run the event for years, andsays over the years vendors have become specialized.
"You can get your computer fixed outhere while you're shopping got a new webmaster out here at the Gregg countyfair. The days of cleaning out the closet type deal is just about gone,"Clay says.
Collectable's, hand crafted items , guitarseven computer tech support. raffles to win items, and even an ATM machine. Trade days happens at the Longviewfairgrounds on the second full weekend of every month.
