Here are some stories for you to check out this afternoon:

1. A former East Texas police officer has been arrested after 15 dogs were found living in 'deplorable conditions.' Terry Glenn Tawater, 46, was taken into custody today at around 11 a.m. in Anderson County.

2. Texas DPS has added Sammy Lee Nickerson, 52, to the Texas Ten Most Wanted Sex Offenders list. A $5,000 award is being offered. Read more details here.

3. A 19-year-old firefighter with the Timpson Volunteer Fire Department and a Spring man died in a three-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 59 near the Panola and Shelby county line Monday night. Two other people were injured in the accident. The young firefighter's name is Jordan LeBlanc.

5. As the girlfriend he shot in the head lay dead or dying in his home, a weeping, praying Oscar Pistorius knelt at her side and struggled in vain to help her breathe by holding two fingers in her clenched mouth, a witness testified Thursday at the double-amputee runner's murder trial.

6. Panola County Sheriff Kevin Lake has released the identity of a man killed in a shooting Wednesday night in Carthage.The victim has been identified as Leonard Digilormo, 43, of Carthage.  He was found dead of a gunshot wound at a house on US Hwy. 79 in the River Hill community.
