Motorists in East Texas need to drive slower than usual and be on the watch for slick spots still lingering on bridges, overpasses and some surface streets.
Emergency personnel are reporting slicks spots on the Beckham overpass just south of Gentry Parkway, 69 Mineola Highway at Blackfork Creek, Gentry Parkway at Spring Street, and 64 W. Erwin at W. Loop 323. These icy patches have resulted in several wrecks during the morning commute.
Highway patrol worked numerous accidents overnight on Highway 64 E. between E. Loop 323 and University Drive because slick conditions on that stretch of highway.
Gregg County Sheriff's Department is reporting 100 to 250 feet of black ice on FM 1844 either side of N. Fuller Road. They have worked at numerous wrecks here over the past couple of days.
Sand crews are sanding these locations, but until the temperature gets above freezing these could be a problem for morning commuters.
