TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

It took extra basketball, but #2 Tatum knocked off #1 Kountze to advance to the state tournament in Austin for the first time since the 2010-2011 season. Tied at 82 in overtime, Klifton Willis drove to the hoop and put up a floater that bounced off the front iron and in to give the Eagles a thrilling 84-82 win over the Lions. Tatum heads to the state capitol as the Class 2A Region III champion.

#2 Grapeland meanwhile defeated #6 Lapoynor 85 to 71 to advance to the state tournament as the champion out of Class 1A Division I Region III.

In Class 1A Division II Region IV, Laneville defeated Oakwood 77 to 69 and advances to the state tournament in Austin.
