Severe storms in the forecast for East Texas on Sunday

The Storm Prediction Center is keeping the majority of East Texas under a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather on Sunday. As a strong cold front moves into the area beginning on Sunday morning, there will be an increased risk for severe weather over East Texas through the middle portion of the afternoon hours. Strong winds, rainfall from 1"-2" and large hail will be the greatest risks with this system. Chances for isolated tornadoes is, at this time, very small. Please stay tuned, and we will continue to update you on this potential severe weather set-up. After the front moves through, temperatures will fall very fast...into the 30s by Sunday evening and into the upper 20s by Monday Morning.

***There is a Winter Weather Advisory from 6PM Sunday - 6AM Monday for the northern 1/2 of East Texas...from I-20, North. The southern edge of the Advisory are the counties of Kaufman, Van Zandt, Smith, Gregg and Harrison. Some sleet and a chance for some lt. freezing rain are possible overnight Sunday, into Monday morning. No significant accumulations are likely.***
