The Golden Bear Brings National Attention To Tyler

Jack Nicklaus is arguably the greatest golfer to ever play the game.  And now, the Golden Bear has chosen Tyler to open only the third Nicklaus Academy of Golf in the United States. The Cascades Golf Club in Tyler held a ribbon cutting today to officialy open the prestigous learning center. World famous golf instructor Mike Malaska was on hand to help open the facility.  He conducted a golf clinic this afternoon. The academy is a state-of-the-art system of teaching created by legendary teacher Jim Flick and Jack Nicklaus, and will be the only one of it's kind in East Texas.

"They chose The Cascades," said Malaska.  "The Cascades didn't necessarily go after Nicklaus. So, the significance of it is they're only going after high-end, very quality facilities to put in a quality program into and only a few of them around the world, and this is going to be one of the places."

"One of the things I've learned," said Cascades Properties President Steven Braley, "is the best players in the world take lessons all the time, and the rest of us rarely ever take lessons. Jack Nicklaus has a famous quote that enjoying golf is a process of problem solving, and with this proven methodology I think we can all enjoy the game a lot more."

The Nicklaus Academy of Golf at The Cascades will open to instruction next summer.
