Mechanical problems leave Henderson, Rusk co. residents in the dark

HENDERSON, TX (KLTV) - Residents of Rusk and Henderson County are experiencing power outages Thursday morning due to mechanical problems.

Rusk County Electric Cooperative General Manager Richard McLeon says the outages were caused by mechanical problems with transmission lines that service several substations.

McLeon estimates that around 5,000 customers are without power. A total of three substations are down at this time. He says they hope to have power restored to all customers soon.

All electric crews have been diverted and are being prepared for when the transmission lines, powered by AEP Swepco, come back up.
