Good afternoon! We hope you're enjoying this lovely Wednesday.

Here are some stories for you to peruse today:

1. New information has been learned about a Smith County shooting that left a woman dead Tuesday morning.
The Smith County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday that an additional incident took place on County Road 333 around 8 a.m. prior to the murder of 30-year-old Jennifer Mata. The incident relates to numerous shots being fired near Mata's residence. We will have more on this story for you tonight at 4, 5 and 6 on KLTV-7 News.

2. A federal judge declared a same-sex marriage ban in deeply conservative Texas unconstitutional on Wednesday, but will allow the nation's second-most populous state to enforce the law pending an appeal that will likely go to the U.S. Supreme Court.

 

3. While tiny houses have been attractive for those wanting to downsize or simplify their lives for financial or environmental reasons, there's another population benefiting from the small-dwelling movement: the homeless.

4. Your week in music: Coldplay releases trippy new video, Rihanna and Eminem touring together this summer, new album release dates announced, and Super Mario music played on an ancient instrument called the sheng.You've got to see that.

5. The family of an Oklahoma man who allegedly died in police custody earlier in February, has released video of the scene.Police say Luis Rodriguez refused to give his ID and was combative when questioned about a domestic disturbance outside of a movie theater in Moore, OK. Rodriguez's wife recorded the final minutes of the confrontation on her cell phone saying she feared for her husband's life.

 

"Mimi" Velazquez, 15, is still missing.

6. The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office is still actively pursuing leads to find Nomei Velazquez, 15, who was reported missing around 10 p.m. Monday, according to Sheriff Jason Bridges. She is still missing, and the case is being treated as an abduction. The sheriff believes she may be in the Lubbock area.

7. A temporary tattooing technique that started as a traditional art has turned into something popular on beaches and at resorts where many people go for spring break.
