Second suspect arrested for burglary, evading arrest after police chase

From the Tyler Police Department:

TYLER, TX – Today at approximately 12:45 p.m., The Smith County Sheriff's Office took a second suspect into custody in a wooded area near The Reserves subdivision, located off of East Side Road near Lake Tyler East. The suspect was arrested in conjunction with a burglary that took place early this morning at the Chapel Hill Storage facility, located at FM 3226, northeast of Chapel Hill.

The suspect who was arrested this afternoon was working with a man who was arrested at 7:30 this morning in the same vicinity. It is believed that additional burglaries make be cleared from these arrests.

This morning at approximately 6:05 am, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call of a burglary in progress at Chapel Hill Storage.

Multiple Sheriff’s units responded to this call. Deputies observed a white male entering a white Dodge pickup, which was parked at the rear of the storage facility. The individual fled the scene in the Dodge truck. A pursuit ensued for several miles resulting in the Dodge pickup crashing in a subdivision off of East Side Road.

A perimeter was established with multiple Sheriff’s Office units, a Sheriff’s Office K9 unit and Department of Public Safety Troopers. The suspect was apprehended at approximately 7:30 am near the location of the crash. Both suspects currently face charges of Burglary of a Building, Evading in a Motor Vehicle, and may face additional charges. Both suspects are currently being questioned.
