SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Authorities are on the scene of a shooting on County Road 333 in Smith County on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened at 11:07 Tuesday morning when authorities say an Hispanic female was shot in the 1500 block of CR 333. She was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Smith County authorities have identified the suspect as Adrian Ray Mata, 29, of Tyler. According to judicial records, Mata lives on County Road 333. Mata is still at-large and authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen driving a dark gray PT Cruiser and has full-sleeve tattoos on his arms. Authorities are working on leads to figure out where Mata might be.

County Road 333 is completely blocked off with crime scene tape. A K-9 united arrived at the scene just before 12:30. Authorities say multiple rounds were fired at the scene, possibly from two separate incidents on Tuesday.

Don Martin with the Tyler Police Department said officers investigated a house at Rusk Street and Vine Avenue in Tyler where they were searching for a suspect in connection with the shooting. Martin said the suspect was not found at the house.

The shooting remains under investigation.

We have a crew on the scene and will provide updates as they become available.
