Authorities investigating body found on roadway in Marshall

Released by the Marshall Police Department:

On February 22, 2104 at approximately 10:08 pm, Marshall Police Communications received a call in reference to the discovery of a female lying off of the roadway on Scotts Quarters Road near the intersection of Loop 390 in Marshall, TX. Marshall Police officers, as well as Marshall Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene. It was then determined that the female was deceased and was pronounced by Justice of the Peace Judge Clarice Watkins. Marshall PD Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded and began an initial investigation of the scene.

The female was later identified as Sharon Leonard, DOB 08/20/1961, of Marshall. An autopsy was ordered by Judge Watkins to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have seen the victim or have knowledge of her whereabouts prior to this discovery is asked to contact the Marshall Police Department Communications Division at 903-935-4578 or Crimestoppers at 903-935-9969 if you wish to remain anonymous.
