Two killed, two injured in three-vehicle accident on Henderson Co. bridge
GUN BARREL CITY,TX (KLTV) -
Two East Texans were killed in a three-vehicle wreck Thursday afternoon in Henderson County.
Gun Barrel City Police Department Chief Damon Boswell said Friday that Angie Hardy, 33, and Brittany Smith, 28, both of Gun Barrel City, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in the 3000 block of W. Main Street.
Smith, Hardy and a three-year-old little girl were traveling across a bridge that spans the Cedar Creek Reservoir in a 1995 Toyota pick-up when debris on the roadway flew in front of them. Smith, the driver, swerved in an attempt to dodge the debris. In the process, the Toyota hit another car head-on. The three-year-old passenger was flown to Children's Hospital in Dallas. She underwent surgery Thursday night and is recovering.
The car hit head-on by the Toyota was driven by Sherry Duncan of Mabank. Duncan was flown to a local hospital from the scene of the accident.
During the collision, the passenger in the Toyota, Hardy, was ejected from the truck. A third vehicle traveling on the bridge ran over Hardy and then collided with a guardrail. A passenger in that third vehicle was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
