2014 Home Products Show this weekend in Tyler

If you're thinking about a remodel, you may want to wait until the weekend to make a purchase. The 2014 Home Products Show has the latest and the greatest new ideas for your place.

The set up has begun, which is what Wayne Trammell is taking part in. He's organizing the Barrett Appliance display at the Home Products Show. He has a refrigerator that I hope my wife doesn't see in a new color.

"It's called slate, and of course it has water and ice through the door. A little different ice maker than you've seen in the past; it has the ice in the door in the refrigerator section instead of the freezer section in the bottom," Trammell said.

That means more freezer space, and it's full of LEDs, even in the drawers.

The Advantium oven has a new look.

"It operates with halogen bulbs. Now it's also a microwave, so you can use the microwave halogen, or you can use the halogen, or you can use the microwave," Trammell explained.

It cooks 60% faster. There's also a clothes dryer with a rack to dry without tumbling, and it can actually steam your clothes which means less trips to the dry cleaner.

Breck Watson with Acme Brick has a modular fireplace.

"We have outdoor kits or you can use it indoors. There are other products out there similar to this, but this one's made in the USA, and you don't have to have a special mason to put it together," Watson said.

And you can finish it off with your brick of choice.

Now your kitchen is remodeled, and your outdoor fireplace is ready to burn.

What about those pesky mosquitoes? Nathan Crow has Mosquito Authority.

"We identify the mosquitoes that are there through trapping, and send them off to different laboratories so we can tell exactly where we need to treat for mosquitoes in your yard," Crow revealed.

And that testing can identify carriers of West Nile for a safer barbeque.

The Home Products Show is at Harvey Convention Center in Tyler on Friday 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. -5 p.m. Tickets are $5, and kids get in free.
