New hotel coming to Covington

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

A new hotel will be built at Madison Avenue and Seventh Street in Covington. 

The building used to be Covington City Hall and before that it was the Coppin's department store.

The new hotel will offer a full service restaurant and bar, meeting and banquet facilities as well as a fitness center and spa.

It will be called The Hotel Covington and have 116 rooms. 

The $27 million project will create 130 full-time hotel jobs and 115 construction jobs, says the Salyers Group and Aparium Hotel Group.

    Four departments were called to a fire that lit up the sky in Kilgore. The fire started around 5:30 Saturday night at 'General Dynamics' in the 42-hundred block of Longview Street. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but according to investigators, one structure was a complete loss.
